Proposal Advisor is the guide and the planning app for the months between deciding and asking, written for the one doing the asking.

We write “he” for the one proposing and “she” for their partner, just to keep things readable. If your relationship looks different, the advice holds exactly the same, and you can still plan the right night for the two of you.

What this is

A proposal is one of the biggest moments of your life, planned in secret, with no rehearsal and no second try. We're the best man in your corner: the friend who's done this before and knows which shortcuts are safe and which will cost you. The guide covers the whole road, from the first conversations to the week after she says yes. Build your plan in the app: one date in, every deadline out.

What we believe

There's no single perfect proposal, and chasing one is a trap. The best proposal is the most personal, built from your own memories and your own humor, so unmistakably yours that no one else could have done it. Our job is to handle the logistics and the knowledge so you can handle the meaning.

How we choose what to recommend

The guide is free, start to finish. We recommend a small, vetted set of vendors and products inside content that's useful on its own, chosen on merit and nothing else. Our editorial standards explain exactly how picks are made.

Editorial standards

Every recommendation on this site follows the same test: would we use it for our own proposal? A pick earns its place on merit, a specific and explainable reason it beats the alternatives, and that reason is printed next to every recommendation.

Money never buys placement. Vendors cannot pay to be recommended, to be ranked higher, or to have criticism removed.

We research every number before it goes up and keep the source on file, and pricing is re-checked regularly. When we get something wrong, we correct the page and note the correction.

Some of the pictures here are AI-generated images rather than photographs of particular rings or stones. The diamond grade scales and the ring shapes and settings are the main examples: they're there to show what each one looks like, and they don't stand for any ring or stone you can go and buy. Everything on this site is here to inform the decision, never to make it for you.
