The same stone, two origins
Labs grow diamonds two ways. HPHT mimics the earth: a diamond seed under extreme pressure and heat, carbon crystallizing around it. CVD works like printing at the atomic level: a seed in a carbon-rich gas chamber, the stone growing layer by layer. Both produce genuine diamonds, graded on the same 4Cs scale as mined stones.

If maximizing the stone within your number is the goal, lab-grown wins on pure math. That math is most of why guys choose lab.
If the billion-year origin and heirloom weight matter to her, natural earns its premium. Sentiment is a legitimate line item.
And the tiebreaker: it's her call as much as yours. Listen for clues the same way you decoded her ring style: what she says about friends' rings, and how she talks about tradition versus practicality. If her best friend is in your circle of trust, this is a one-question errand.
One grading rule

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. Same carbon, same crystal structure, same hardness, same sparkle. A standard diamond tester reads them as diamond because they're diamond. Only specialized lab equipment can identify the origin.
Will anyone be able to tell?
